Anwar Abu-Shayed of Waterbury, CT. An alumnus at Mercy College in New York, Abu-Shayed earned her Bachelors (Magna Cum Laude) and Master's degree in Cybersecurity with the goal of establishing a career in cyber governance and risk operations. A first-generation Palestinian and Puerto Rican American, speaks three languages, Abu-Shayed was vice president and web manager for the Women in Cybersecurity chapter at Westchester Community College’s Alpha Beta Gamma Honor Society Organization and an active member of Phi Theta Kappa, and has been on the President’s List and Dean’s List multiple times. She won the ESEST Women in Cybersecurity Scholarship and more. She is now working for CT State Community College Three Rivers in Norwich, CT, where she continues her career as Campus Director of Information Technology. She is planning on taking her LSATs to earn her JD in Cybersecurity Law to advocate for individuals at a pro-bono basis and assist in establishing laws as technology progresses while the law slowly catches up. She is an advocate for individuals who do not have a voice or the tools needed to inform others. She hopes to establish herself and gain the hearts and minds of anyone who has been unjustly wronged. Her goal is to lead people through knowledge to empower all people to their right to information and security.
