SALVATOR BELLINO ‘82

Director of Construction/Principal

Tri-Star Construction Corporation

After completing only one semester at lona College, Salvatore Bellino enlisted in the U Marine Corps and served on active duty from September 1973 until August of 1977. Upon his return, Sal discovered Mercy College and began taking courses at the Yonkers campus. For Sal, the decision to attend Mercy was an easy one, and he cites that the campus was “close, convenient, and cost-effective” as three of the principal reasons he chose Mercy. However, as fate would have it, his choosing Mercy presented him with opportunities he hadn't imagined.

Having had experience in Saigon in the wake of the Vietnam war, Sal almost immediately became a valuable resource in the Veteran's Affairs Office at the Yonkers campus. There, he was able to use his experience to benefit other students. He provided counseling to veterans and worked closely with them to help them overcome obstacles and acclimate themselves to the College experience.

In January of 1978, Sal began working for a construction consulting company and became a full-time night student. Shortly after completing his program in 1982 and earning a B.S. in Management, Sal put his degree to work and became the Vice President of Construction Con sulting for Frank's Nursery in Yonkers, New York. Currently, Sal is the Director of Construc tion/Principal at Tri-Star Construction Corporation in New York, New York.

Sal is an active member of the Board of Directors for both Rice High School and Iona Prep. He has also been an active volunteer for the Fresh Air Fund. Sal and his wife Maureen live with their three children in Briarcliff Manor in New York.
