DIANE P. CASHIN ‘81

Global Account Manager

AT&T Wireless

Attending college presented a greater challenge to Diane Cashin than it did for many of her peers. One of five children in a close-knit family, she had absorbed both her mother's advice that they all attend college and her mother's mantra: “You can do anything if you try!” So for Diane, the fact that she would have to fund her entire schooling on her own was more of an opportunity than an obstacle. Mercy College personnel offered a warm welcome, and the location made it possible to save money by living at home. On-campus employment was the most practical way to pay for her education. Ever since, Diane has been winning top honors for her determination and success.

"Mercy's impact was profound,” says Diane, and she is grateful to faculty, staff, and students whose lives were integral to her own development. She remembers professors who were always caring and committed to helping students grasp and absorb classroom lessons. While holding down a campus job, Diane earned a 4.0 in her minor of Business, with a 3.8 in her major field of study, Psychology. She continues to celebrate, and practice, the integrated lessons of Mercy College: “I learned the importance of meeting deadlines, keeping commit ments, establishing relationships. I learned the value of teamwork and collaboration, as well as the importance of mentoring.” In fact, she credits her mentor at Mercy, Wayne Cioffari, with inspiring her to pursue her dreams and encouraging her to earn an MBA in Marketing at Long Island University, Dobbs Ferry.

Clearly, Diane learned her lessons well. In her position as Global Account Manager for AT&T Wireless, she manages the largest customer base for AT&T Wireless Services and is respon sible for $30 million in annual revenue. She is also responsible for fostering successful teamwork and collaboration among the 75 account executives she manages nationwide. Her career includes top positions in sales, marketing, and technical support services in one of the world's most rapidly changing industries. At every stage in her career, Diane has won count less awards and honors for her success, often placing in the top 2% of the sales force. She has been honored repeatedly as a Gold Club Winner and President's Club Winner, and often named to the Leader's Council with AT&T Wireless.

An active volunteer since her high school days when she was the “Teenage Spokesperson” for the March of Dimes, Diane coordinates support for a local food bank, is active in the Haitian ministries of her church, and works with the Elks Club on drug-free programs in her area.
