Award for Student Achievement
Deandre Davis '22

Deandre Davis ’22, a native of Brooklyn, New York, admits that the Mercy Scholars Program was his deciding factor in attending Mercy College. The Mercy Scholars Program meant that Davis could get a wonderful college experience with a thriving cohort of fellow students. In his four years at Mercy, he found a second home while finding his niche of studying psychology. As a student in the Mercy Honors Program, residing on the Dobbs Ferry Campus, he carried many leadership roles. Davis started his freshman year working in the PACT office as a student worker, which he continued for three years, volunteered as a MavCare Ambassador, and works as a student worker in the Admissions department as a Mercy Ambassador. In this role, he gives tours, handles outreach and is a familiar face at events.

Davis has participated in many community services projects at Mercy including the Holiday Hustle, a local marathon, and volunteered at a movie screening for Dobbs Ferry community youth. He presented his psychology capstone project at Mercy’s Honors Symposium.

A first-generation college student, Davis began at Mercy as an introverted student and is crossing the finish line in May as an extroverted, well-known campus leader and familiar face to all students, faculty and staff that he has gotten the pleasure to network with throughout his four years. “Mercy has taught me to step out of my comfort zone and make connections that will be long lasting for my future.” Davis is grateful for all of the opportunities he has received at Mercy for himself and his family.
